Blog Post #6 Pine Ridge Park

10/27/17 10:30 AM Sunny

Though the air is cold and crisp, the sun shines through the many leaves and pines in Pine Ridge Park. It is very apparent that this park retains a bit of moisture because everything is soft and wet. The main body of this park seems to be mostly forest.

Snowberry (Symphoricarpos Albus)

I chose snowberries because I thought it was pretty interesting to see berries still flourishing at this time of year.

Red Alder Leaves (Alnus Rubra)

I chose the red alder because of how essential it is to moving nitrogen from the air back to the ground to support other organisms.

Dacrymyces Palmatus

I chose this mushroom because it is so unconventional. Often times when thinking of mushrooms we immediately think about the shape of the stem and cap, this orange jelly stays formless which is very interesting.
